Implementing ITIL® and Certifying to the ISO 20000-1 International Standard by Sola Oduko
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) contains a set of best practices for the creation, design, development, operation and continual improvement of IT services that deliver value to an organization. Organizations that implement ITIL can choose whether or not to certify to the ISO 20000-1 International Standard, which drives benefits including improved quality of services; increased business and customer confidence; better understanding of roles, processes, and the business by management and staff; demonstrated superiority over competitors; etc.
The requirements for the ISO/IEC 20000-1 standard include the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services that fulfill service requirements and provide value for both the customer and the service provider. Using the Plan-Do-Check-Act approach, the standard requires an integrated approach for establishing, implementing, operating and improving a service management system (SMS).
This video, a recording of a 1-hour webinar delivered by Procept’s IT Management Practice Lead Sola Oduko, is designed for participants who are considering implementing ITIL and those interested in certifying to the ISO 20000-1 standard.
Disaster-Proofing Your Business by Sola Oduko
Business continuity planning is the process of developing, maintaining and implementing procedures to prevent, respond, recover and restore business operations within agreed time frames after a disruption to business operations from natural, man-made or technology hazards. According to Public Safety Canada’s A Guide to Business Continuity Planning, business continuity planning is “a proactive planning process that ensures critical services or products are delivered during a disruption.” The topic is especially important after the increasing frequency of business disruptions due to terrorism, extreme weather, civil unrest, hacking, and other disruptors. The problems are so widespread, that the international community has developed a new standard (ISO 22301: 2012) for business continuity management systems.
In this 1-hour recorded webinar, Procept consultant Sola Oduko speaks to those who are looking to develop continuity plans or who are unsure if their current plans will work for them in an emergency. He introduces the business continuity management lifecycle, and jump-starts participants on their business continuity journey. Along the way, he also reviews how one can establish a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) using the ISO 22301 international standard.
