Our clients sometime make huge investments in developing the knowledge and skill of their employees and also in changing attitudes and behaviours. Investments of time and money may mean that other organizational initiatives have to be put on hold while the development activities are underway. With such potentially significant impacts, how are clients supposed to balance these competing priorities and make decisions on whether to proceed with the development work?

Procept provides a solution to this problem through our training effectiveness measurement services that seek to objectively measure whether training and development services we provide have achieved the goals our clients were seeking when the program was approved. Starting with the initial business case behind the development funding, we establish quantifiable performance criteria and the process for measurement. First taking a baseline measurement before the learning and development activities commence, we repeat the measurements at predetermined times to see what difference the development activities are making in the targeted performance criteria (e.g. average order processing time, error rates, knowledge level, shift in attitude, reduction in conflicts, etc.).

We use assessment tools such as knowledge tests, skills demonstrations, observed behaviours during group case-study activities, surveys, interviews and more to capture relevant data. This data, in turn, undergoes statistical and other analyses that may include comparisons against established frameworks, standards, or industry benchmarks.

Our evidence-based conclusions and recommendations are presented to our clients in formal reports that help decision makers to see the effectiveness of the development initiative, allowing them to make better decisions about funding follow-on activities.
