Despite the flood of theories and courses which seek to “prove” that ultra-participative leadership styles are “superior”, the overwhelming majority of managers and supervisors stay pretty much the way they’ve always been! After all, it’s taken them a lifetime to get that way and the chances of changing them without intensive psychotherapy are slim.
In addition, practical experience shows that no one style is superior over another if each is properly carried out and suited to the work and workgroup. Results, creativity, growth, loyalty and a balance concern for both work and people are equally possible under Autocratic, Consultive or Participative styles of leadership.
The key to improved leadership is not to overhaul your entire makeup to fit some universal “ideal” style, but to sharpen the style which is natural for you. Each style has its own inherent pitfalls. “Get better at being what you are rather than trying to be what you are not.”
Effective leadership in today’s changing business environment does not require reincarnation. It simply requires adjustments to your current leadership style — whatever that may be.
This 1-day workshop is based on actual experience — not “theory” — all concepts will be documented through case examples and by an analysis of participants’ experience. Participants will learn firm, tested, proven, practical approaches to getting results through participative learning devices.
